YES..got to learn to shut my mouth sometimes because when something goes wrong it gets thrown back in your face twice as hard.

Sure, not everyone could handle the truth about me.

Yes, I do have to do that sometimes. Depends on the situation and who the person is. I reveal details about myself on a "need to know" basis.

I do compartmentalize my life. However, it's not "telling different people different things about me." I think that's lying. What do I mean by compartmentalizing my life? Well, let's just say that what happens to me at home stays at home. Ditto at the office. That's why I hate it when someone from the office calls me at home. I find the two places separate and distinct. And I do choose what I will say to different people. For example, I don't talk about my sex life when I'm with my family, but I do talk about it when I'm with friends. In short, I believe there's a place and time for everything.

I'm not sure how to answer this question..the closer I am to someone the more he/she knows about me..but I'm not sure what that has to do with "compartmentalizing" anything..I am always the same person with everyone..I don't do "masks" or anything like that...I reveal more to family/friends but also those who are close to me have lived longer with me and therefore simply by observation and experience know me better..I don't agree that is "compartmentalizing"..I think that would be if I were a different aspect of myself at work, at play, just hanging out..I'm not..I'm always me! :)

Yes, it's less about 'compartmentalizing' I think. More about choosing *which* parts of myself to reveal on the basis of 'need to know'. And appropriate to the situation in question. Which could also be selective rationalization as well.....*shrug*
