5 yrs old? I see nothing wrong with it. People will try to make you think that it's perverted. But, really, it's natural. For most of us, 5 yrs old is the phallic stage. You're supposed to start being interested in sex, then. Not having it, of course. But when I was young, I had to feel ashamed. I was curious, too. But I had to pretend like I was innocent. Shame followed me, through my youth. I would even lie to my friends (11 to 13 y.o.) that I didn't know what a prostitute was. Hell yeah, I knew! But I had to keep up the facade, to satisfy society. There is nothing wrong about wanting it, as long as you don't act upon it.

This is obviously down to upbringing as i've never been made to feel ashamed of my own sexuality in any way by anyone or any thing, society or otherwise. In your case i would simply forget what you have been told in the past and enjoy your own physicality.

You sound like me. I've never heard anyone say that it's wrong for women to look at porn or masturbate, but it's rarely discussed openly like men's sexuality. Although boys are expected to masturbate due to their allegedly high sex drives, society acts as if female masturbation does not exist. This erasure of our sexual identity makes me angrier than I would be if someone directly condemned female masturbation and pornography use. It's as if we do not exist as sexual beings.
