  • I sympathise, It took me a while to have one of my questions reinstated when it was flagged as a duplicate which it clearly wasn't. I sometimes wonder if they just do it automatically when a friend says hey flag this. I think its not what you know but who.
  • That is crazy Lippycow!! This must be a mistake. You should send a feedback complaint or say something in the blog. Maybe you could check with one of the community leaders?
  • You likely had just enough people complain that it was offensive. I thought it was a good question.
  • Apparently they don't until they're prompted by Feedback. It's an excellent question and definitely deserves reinstatement. If my question asking, "What ABer would you like to see do a pole dance?" got reinstated then your's does to a much greater degree.
  • Because someone was offended by it? Looking for a quick +5, there wasn't a ?mark after it....it was a silly rejection, IMO.
  • Think they have a new moderator in the home office! I found a question that looked like a whole bunch of other questions apparently flagged as offensive and accepted. Sent a feedback on that one... ( http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/742371 ) Seems we run into something like this at least once a month. Maybe the HO moderator is asleep at the keyboard or something... Seems things are being "rubber-stamped" when they shouldn't be. Protest it... I would.
  • Absolutely ridiculous. That was a perfectly valid question and unfortunately a very real life issue!! I just sent feedback from the question page saying just that. I hope everyone who reads this does the same.
  • It is a very valid question. This is a load of hooey. I think you should link this question in your feedback.
  • I think after a certain number of answers or a certain length of time, a question should no longer be subject to flagging. I think 161 answers and 8 months would qualify for exemption!
  • the same thing happend to me!! idk y it does that!
  • Blame the community leader who submitted it
  • It's reinstated now.
  • looks like its back to normal now lippy xx
  • "Nonsense"??? Are you kidding? With all due respect to whoever posted this question (http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/168961) (I just randomly chose one from "Outside the Bag") this seems more nonsensical than yours. The ONLY thing I can see is if MAYBE the category is wrong...perhaps should be under "Kids/Parenting" (MAYBE) but other than that, I can't see why. ----- non•sense –noun 1. words or language having little or no sense or meaning. 2. conduct, action, etc., that is senseless, foolish, or absurd: to have tolerated enough nonsense. 3. impudent, insubordinate, or otherwise objectionable behavior: He doesn't have to take that nonsense from you. 4. something absurd or fatuous: the utter nonsense of such a suggestion. 5. anything of trifling importance or of little or no use.
  • I think most of us have experienced that. You're a Community Leader, Ed, I assume you know that you don't "fight" with anyone to get your question re-instated.
  • I have had a few things flagged as nonsense but they were all answers, not question, and they were done vindictively as there was nothing even borderline nonsense about them. To make it worse I didn't get an email telling me my answers had been rejected. I just noticed that they were gone. So I had to write to the staff, with the link to the question and mentioning when approx my answer had been posted and they found it for me and restored them. You can just use the Feedback button on the bottom of the question's page. Give the staff all needed info, like why you don't think it's nonsense, possibly how many answers it received. If you can get others to do likewise, that's even better. Or if you get an email stating why it was rejected you can reply to that directly and they may restore it for you. And it doesn't even have to be your own question, it can be for someone else's, just use that same Feedback button saying why you feel it shouldn't have been rejected.
  • I once ran out of room to complete a question and had it flagged nonsense. The is more room available for answers than questions.
  • I have even had one flagged twice a week after it was flagged and re-instated. No fighting required. Just go to the question and go to the bottom of the page and click on feedback and ask the staff to fix it and why you feel it should be brought back. The staff are great about this. But you must keep in mind many things the staff are doing behind closed doors so it make take a day or two.
  • No need to fight. Unless you think you have a good chance at taking Rich or Joel :) Send the links to the question(s) via the feedback link and the staff will reinstate them if they are valid.
  • Last year I was more into "whimsy" and that happened more than once..I fought the good fight and some got reversed..here's the thing..if I ask a question and no one responds, then if it is flagged as nonsense I would have no complaints..but in some cases 20 or more of our AB friends joined in, responded and "got" what my question was getting at..therefore, we were all being insulted..so I fought and I got some reinstated..but I got weary of the battle..trying to get someone who is totally without humor to understand "whimsy" is very very arduous..so far this year I have not been challenged..why? No more whimsy! :) Good luck, m'dear! :)
  • I think it's happened to me twice. One was just a silly question that got rejected. The other was a legitimate question rejected as spam because I did not realize you were not allowed URL links at that time.
  • Happens to me a lot these days! Apparently someone (ahem, *coughs* OnDemand! *coughs*)failed to catch on that this site will only operate if there are answers and questions on it!
  • Seems like any flag the moderators receive are approved without checking if it's valid. A load of nonsense. Another thing AB needs to improve.
  • That can only be answered by the AB staff moderators. On one occasion, I spent a very long time answering someone with facts, references and links, who asked for assistance forming a business plan needing grant funding to present to a governing board for approval. Having experience with this, I knew exactly what was involved and what would best promote his case. I finished, posted the answer (+ comments with more detail) and about 5 minutes later the question was removed as "nonsense." The question was complete minus the question mark. The Asker was a new member, Level 1, and it was his first activity on the site. I protested via "feedback" without response. In fact, I have never received a single response to the numerous feedback I have posted. Obviously the staffer removing the question was clueless as to content, intent, and subject matter.
