Hi, I know this is kind of 'quick and dirty' reply, but the issue is a little complex. I did a "return on investment solar system' Google search and it gave a lot of companies, databases and calculators for that. I even downloaded a pdf on how to assess the ROI myself.

Here we are, 9 months after I posted this question, and I finally found an answer to it myself! :-) There's now a wonderful online calculator for solar panel return-on-investment (ROI) located here: http://www.findsolar.com/index.php On my house, it estimates that it would take 6..13 years for my electricity savings to pay for solar system.

Your payback time would be faster than the rest of the country, thats for sure. Unfortunately there are too many variables to give you an actual number over the internet without a site survey. If your have a south facing roof and there arent many trees or buildings shading the panels, you could be paid back in under 10 years, easy. There are tons of state and federal incentive available. Most solar panels come with a 20+ yr warranty and maintain output for over 30 years. Ive seen panels over 40 years old still producing electricity, and just think, and it was build over 40 yrs ago!! Todays solar panels are much more efficient and produce more power than ever. Its a no brainer my friends. Thats why I am in the solar business!
