My goldfish lies upside down on its head at the bottom of the tank. If I feed it (or knock on the wall), it becomes active again and swims normally. Is it sleeping?

It sounds like a swimbladder problem to me too, you can get over-the-counter medication for this at most pet stores. It can be caused by a number of things, the main cause is an internal bacterial infection which can be cleared up by meds, but if your goldfish is a fancy goldfish (ie has double fins and a slightly compressed body) it could be genetic.
Try the meds, also try expanding the fish's diet a bit, give him some veg. Peas without skins on go down well with most goldfish, try that once a week. That should help clear it up. Keep an eye on the water quality too, make sure to test it regularly.

My fish does that too but I think he swallowed a rock because I do give all of my fish a good amount of different foods. But I am still searching for answers as well.

No. It does that very rarely. I saw it do that 2-3 times in the past 3 weeks. The last I saw it do that was 2 days ago. It does it so wierd, it is like an arrow stuck in the ground. Thanks. -Munjal.
