Akai plasma tv PDP42Z5TA The picture does not cover the whole screen. I can not get to the Geographic setting on the menu to try to change the display. When I watch movies, the movie does cover the whole screen. I don't know if can i access system menu

when you are using the componet, DVI or HDMI inputs part of the signal tells the tv what format to show the picture in - sounds like you are on a sat or cable box, make sure it is set to the "widescreen" output in the setup menu. downside to this is the format is set by the studio where the show or video was made & will change to this format without your control
