    The difference is getting smaller every day... the big one would be language, English vs American English... The political system is also very different...

    There are too many to list. Language and spelling, weight and measures, in the UK we have yet to introduce a subsidy for low pay in the form of universal tipping, in the UK we expect and desire the State to look after our health, religion, history(the UK has one). Actually, as America is a relatively young country, it could be argued the big difference is that the US has yet to mature culturally. While the UK is not quite 'all growed-up' culturally, it is still hundreds of years more mature than that of the moody teen that is the US of A.
