From 1984 to 1994 is it for me. You start with Michael Jackson Thriller, through Decepche Mode/The Cure Days, Grunge and glam rock. Great time for music!

Wow... tough question. I'd have to say, about 1966 through 1976. I don't think popular music has ever gone through such an enormous shift, or had such an eclectic existence since then. British Invasion was at its peak, acid rock, prog-rock, Frank Zappa, Led Zep, Steely Dan... I could go on and on.
