I'd have to go with the second hand Gibson mate.

I would check it out thoroughly and get the second hand Gibson, Fender, Guild... you'll be getting a much better guitar for the same price.

man! havent seen ya for donkeys years! :) anyway, i'd pick the second hand guitar :)

I would get the second hand guitar then get a proper one much later, when you become a pro.

Don't buy a cheap guitar, rather go for a quality second hand. At best you've got yourself a good brand named guitar, at worst it will probably still play better than the cheap crap.

If you get the right second hand guitar, it will probably never be worth any less and may actually increase in value. If you buy a guitar now that is likely to increase in value, then sell it when it is worth $100 more, you can get a better guitar next time, and then keep doing this until you have a guitar that is worth several hundred dollars wmore that the one you started with! Investments aside, any nice used guitar from Gibson, Gretsch, Fender, Guild, Ibanez or Peavey (and maybe a few other brands) is bound to be a quality instrument. And the reduced price for being used puts it in the same price range as a new piece of junk. I see Fender Standard Strats all the time for no more than $199. That's just one good example.

well, if i were you, i would save up to buy a NEW guitar. it sounds weird, but you should probly buy a first class, really good guitar. or whatever you can buy with all of your money.

Second hand Fender or Gibson. Even if it needs some work, you are better off than some off-brand guitar.
