Sounds like a fuel problem. Check your fuel filter and your carb(if it is carborated(sp?)) or clean the injectors. Could just be in need of a tune-up.

A couple of things come to mind. The first is a clogged catalytic converter. After that, the fuel system is suspect, not the ignition system. Have you changed the fuel filter? Common problem, and should be changed as part of routine maintenance anyway.
