  • You could rate the existing question up and post an answer to it saying that you are also looking for an answer to the same question. This will make the question pop back up for other users.
  • Actually buried questions are found more often than you think. Why allow duplicates when anyone can use that handy little search box at the top of the page to find the question (and answers) they are looking for? Questions that have been asked can also be answered indefinitely, so dupes just take up space IMHO.
  • Grrrr reciprocally by my very side. Duplication in an irrational conception. In the universe nothing could be duplicated, and little defferences make great good effects!
  • Why should they expire when the original question is still there and may have so many good, clever and interesting responses already? Why should all the work others did be expired? And what about the people that have been here for a long time, should they have to keep answering the same questions over and over again? Having new questions is one of the best things about this site as it make people really think and be creative. And those old questions DO come out of the pack and go round again, either by answering the new one and flagging it as a duplicate or by going to find that old question and answering it. Then it goes to the front page. I do that a lot, searching for ones I've missed and I'm so thrilled when one of them makes the rounds again and gets many new answers. It doesn't take much work to find them. GO look in a category you like, click on the last pages and work frontwards. Use the search box to find good questions. All of that brings more enjoyment to the site. It keeps it fresh and alive.
