I've seen where the big three auto manufacturers are in financial duress because of high manufacturing costs. The japanese have gone almost full automation and are dumping their product on America, so much so that the big three's vehicles are being pushed to back lots and imports brought forward,Chrysler is now pushing Toyota. Ford is pushing Volvo, Land Rover and Jaguar. General motors is pushing saturn. I think there's a psychological impact to being beaten on your own home turf,

I don't think we should boycott anything that we find useful and makes our lives easier. Boycott oil? Right! Sure, why not? We can all use a little exercise so we can walk everywhere. However, it would be very nice if we gave up our gas-guzzling monstrosities, put them in storage and tried to get along with small, efficient and non-jazzy vehicles..at least for the time being! :)
