I'm the same way. Ear plugs are your friend.

If you're tired enough you'll sleep through an earthquake. But I know what you mean, it`s somethintg you just have to get used to. If a nois is really bothering me I try to put music on or at least soemthing more pleasant to drown out the unpleasant noise.

I fall asleep with an old movie that I have watched many times, that way I can close my eyes and just listen to it. Before long it's morning!!!!!!!!:)

I have this and it's rough, definitely. My husband hates how I jump and startle. I really cannot help it. I have gotten great relief from earplugs and also from falling asleep listening to audiobooks. Usually non-fiction. I also have a white noise generator that makes ocean, forest and rain sounds. My problem with that gadget is that it is designed to turn off after a set time and I automatically wake up right before it turns off. I know. I'm a mess but the other things work best for me. The white noise machine might work for you.

Free your mind with some meditation lessons ... then you can be able to choose if you want to concentrate on noise or ignore it ... you will still "hear" everything, but you will learn to switch yourself from listen mode to not listen mode and then you can sleep peacefully with any noise. http://www.healing-tao.com/tao-garden/universal/en/books/ .

I think it is just something you are born with. When I was at a dance as a teenager I once fell asleep sitting at the snack table by the music speakers. That one even surprised me.

Excellent $20 investment that Love got for his room-- it's a space heater, about a foot high, with a fan setting and an adjustable thermostat Fan or heat as appropriate, nice constant whirring noise that's not obnoxious but drowns out the roommate watching TV.
