I agree with you, but we have to do something with them. The cost the taxpayers a hell of a lot of money. So why not utilise them? Make them work for their crimes, bring in some money frmo their work to support them instead of us doing it.

It's not so different from times gone by when prisoners worked on chain gangs and made licence plates for cars. It's just that now they (hopefully) will not be abused (as in chain gangs) and will learn some valuable skills that can be used when they are released. I see where you are worried, and I agree, everything that is private enterprise has the potential to be exploitative, but can it be any worse than the systems that have been in place till now?
