  • Over and over again. Both animals and humans. So much so that I had to stop and take a long hard look at the why of that with the humans. Turns out there is such a thing as "too much of a good thing". I concentrate on animals now, they have far fewer hidden agendas. I have rescued dogs, cats, fish, snakes, pigeons/birds, prairie dogs, chickens, rabbits...and the list goes on....and probably will till I die.
  • Yes. There was a time when I was riding down a highway with my friend Misty (she was driving her Mustang) and we saw a man beating his wife in a truck in front of us. It was pretty graphic, I remember him backhanding her several times. We pulled alongside the truck (I was in the passenger seat) and I rolled down my window and pointed at the man and told him to pull it over. Surprisingly the man did pull over. I yelled out to the woman that if she wanted she could come with us. It took her a while to finally open her door and run over to us. After she did, we crammed into the front seat and took off (the guy in thye truck followed us for a while, but he didn't have the horsepower to keep up). The girl was very bloody. She had blood running down her nose, on her shirt and on her jeans. She was crying. The sad thing is this: we asked her if she wanted to go to the police or the hospital. She said no. We asked her if she had family she could stay with: no. In the end she only wanted to be dropped off at her house, where her husband was sure to return. It's a harsh world.
  • My friend and I rescued a baby duck once but I don't really come across a lot of random animals in need of help where I live, the area is pretty developed.
  • Yes. A Mallard. I picked him up on an off ramp walking home from work one late night. I put him in my apron & brought him home. I was only 16, & didn't realize that a duck shouldn't be free to meander about your house. When I woke up in the morning there was poop all over the living room. It was gross! I took him out side after that. He flew away about an hour later.
  • Yes, most recently a swallow that was floundering in my pool yesterday. It took about an hour for it to get its energy back and then it flew off.
  • Yes. I try whenever I can to do whatever I can.

I made her a nest in my garden shed, she stayed til she had her kits. When the kits were old enough they all trotted off.The momma came back for about three years to have her babies. Recently~We had a pair of Geese make a nest on our roof, yesterday momma goose decided to push all the flegdlings off.One landed in a bush and couldn't get out and momma couldn't get to it. She was making qiute a racket,I found the baby and scooped it up and put it near momma~that damn bird chased me all the way back into the house...thats gratitude for ya!lol
  • Yes, two people who had slid off the road in a blizzard in Utah. We were driving, could barely see but saw tire tracks going over the side of the road. We stopped and found an SUV perched precariously on it's side about ten feet down on an embankment. It was a lttle hairy, because it could have easily rolled. We pulled them out and got them to the hospital.

  • Found a baby squirrel on the sidewalk a couple months back. Must have fallen out of the tree or something. Was busted up pretty bad. Broken leg and internal injuries. Brought it home, put it in a warm shoebox and fed it pedialight stuff (if I remember correctly). Had the intention of bringing him/her to a wild animal rescue place an hour away in the morning when they open but the poor thing didn't make it through the night.
  • We rescued some little baby ducks that had fallen down a drain. Just had to take off the grid, fish them out of the drain water, then go home and wash our hands 500 times!!
  • We caught some baby racoons that were near our house. The mother was killed by a car. We called the animal rescue and they took them.

  • I've rescued two that I can recall. I found a cow tied up to a stake that had tangled itself up and fallen in a ditch. I untied it and helped push it out of the ditch... and in hide sight I could have hurt myself, but it was an impulse thing, and the cow and I working together got it out! The other was a puppy that had fallen in a very slippery sided ditch. It';s mum had been barking for half and hour and I could see the mum 1/2 mile away, but not what she was barking at. I went to check it out and found this poor pup trying to climb out. I got in and pulled it out and her mum went mad with joy...
