You realistically could not suffer a stranger or a loved one sobbing or blubbering in your company. It can be morally debilitating. If you have pain within, take a little time out for yourself, if you cannot find a good listener close to hand., to hold you and hug you. If you feel emotional take deep gentle breaths to retain a calm head and soothe your nerves. Keep a journal and write down your thoughts in times of woe and angst. Happy days and bad times. A personally inspired and written autobiography of you. Upon returning to previously written entries you will learn so much more of yourself.

For the most part, hiding them. As long as you dont slip into denial. I mean, if I can handle something by myself, why would I want to trouble someone else with it? Its not really a matter of independance as it is of privacy and personal preferance. Some find it releiving to share their thoughts and fears. Others like it to know they can handle something by themselves and no oone would be the wiser. ~+~

...I think the answer is situational...I am a true beleiver in being "real"...that is "from the heart"... but in cases like: someone very ill (you want to sob...but clearly you need to do the "smile" thing to help give hope & strength...& similar situations)...in social situations where a manner of decorum must be adhered to...ect... ...and that Avid, is from my heart! :>)

People don't really want to hear the truth. Like if you ask a customer "How are you" they don't really want to hear that your doing bad, it's just a pleasant greeting, however fake. So most will say fine. Now if it's a person you know well you can be honest.
