  • Yes, and you could say the same in reverse. All of the major and minor religions of the day (not just today, but also in the past) are all just cults with political power - but only a lucky few also have their own crusaders, lobbyists, and lots & lots of money.
  • Well,it wasn't really a question, but instead an opinion, but the response, instead of an answer, is 'Yup.'
  • Mormonism literally runs Utah, believe me they have much political power, they have people in high places, lots of money, and a whole lot of control. I have studied Cults for close to 30 years, reason being; I was raised between 2 major cults. Most members of cults don't even know what their own church doctrines really are and don't even try and find out. Its like they saw a big sign above the entrence of their church that says; Please leave brain here before entering! Why do you think that the bible mentions us being led like sheep to slaughter; sheep are about the dumbes animals on this planet, but that is how God referes to us.
  • Yes. (It all comes down to a matter of opinion)
  • A cult is what the big religion calls the small one.
  • Not always. John Smith was an early version of David Koresh who succeeded in spreading his influence substantially. The Mormon church DOES have notable political power, especially in UT, AZ, ID.
  • You forget money! ;-)
  • Christianity was regarded as a cult until the Roman emperor adopted it and forced it on the rest of Rome. I suppose you could call that political power.
