  • It would be way too easy to get off on that, they could just reference all the fine work the cigarette companies have done dodging that very accusation
  • Not really. That would be akin to charging the car dealer for the ticket a customer got while using the car.
  • Not at all. If they didn't get it from you they would get it somewhere. So in reality it is not the dealer that made the person use.
  • NO WAY! Everyone makes their own decisions.
  • If they can sue gun makers and make them liable for gun deaths, then why not? If they can sue cigarette companies for the death of smokers, why not? It would be consistent with current tort law.
  • Absolutely that is why tobacco companies are being sued, rightly so.
  • no no no!!, its a choice whether you use or not ...the same as eating Macca's its up to you if you want to eat it or not
  • Sure. Or go back to that poor peasant in South America or Asia and arrest him for it.
  • No, of course not. The user knows the risks - the warnings about drugs are all over TV and other media. The user takes those chances for him/herself, and the dealer can't be accountable in any way if they die. Now, perhaps if the user was somehow incapable of making sound mental choices - perhaps due to mental illness / disability, or being a minor, we would have a pretty good case against the dealer, if they were aware of that (which would be generally easy in the case of most minors and people with obvious mental illness or disability). Tobacco retailers aren't held responsible for the deaths caused by their selling tobacco. Neither are liquor stores, or corner stores selling beer, knowing that the person could get behind the wheel of a car, operate heavy machinery, give it to a child, or drink themselves to death. We also don't hold cell phone retailers responsible for the traffic deaths that occur when people use them whilst driving.
  • If there was something wrong with the drugs they sold. For example, if it was laced with something and the user was unaware of this. However, user-error us far too often blamed on someone other than the person most responsible. Fat people blame the food. Crazy, gun toting mass-murderers blame video games. People who burn themselves when drinking coffee blame the people who heated it up.
  • No. People know the dangers of using drugs. If you choose to use, it's your fault whatever happens to you.
  • No because that person is old enough to know drugs is no good, and it is their decision to buy them so what ever happens is their own fault for using them
  • I think it depends. For example, can you really blame someone for being a prostitute if someone tricked her into becoming one? It's sort of the same thing with drugs. If someone tricked the person into using drugs, is it really completely the person's fault? Now, if the person knew what was going to happen to him or her and was able to decide to use the drugs on his or her own without any pressure involved, then I really don't see how it's anyone else's fault other than his or her own.
  • Why? Unless the drug dealer put a gun to someone's head and forced the ingestion of the drug, or the injection, or inhalation..people should be accountable for their own actions and quit blaming others for their own destruction. Drug dealers should be jailed for selling drugs..period. It is not their fault if a "client" overdoses. They are just the purveyors of the weapon..might as well hold gun dealers responsible for deaths caused by guns that they sell! On second thought..why don't we hold gun dealers responsible? :(
  • They sure should.
  • no if you use drugs you except the dangers that go with them.
  • You would have to bring the whole entire alcohol industry to court along with all tobacco companies. They are the largest drug dealers around. ..people have died from caffeine overdose as well Then we would have to bring down the entire pharmaceutical industry, many people die each year from taking their prescribed drugs(not to mention the deaths from people who are just using them experimentally). This would be a great class action lawsuit against drug dealers ...wait no it wouldn't work. ¤ I have an idea - lets just regulate harmful drugs, and educate people on the pros and cons.
  • No. My 2 cents.
  • no, it is the user's choice to buy them you can't blame others for your wrong doing you put your self in that situation you are the only one to blame.
  • Who would prosecute, if the user is dead?
  • Yes. They must be they are the cause.
