  • You need to say which country you are talking about. In England and Wales you cannot just do it; all burial sites need a license - so that, for example, you don't bury bodies in soemone else's water supply, and if someone discovers the body in a ywear or two, the police don't start a murder inquiry. I don't know how hard such licenses are to get, but I think they are not that easy.
  • The burial of a body establishes a cemetery, so the location must be approved by the local authorities, usually the zoning board in the US. Some states may have statutes governing burials in places other than established cemeteries. In most cases, the burial, even on your own property, cannot take place within a municipality and must not contitute a nuisance.
  • In the State of Washington, where I live, this is strictly forbidden. Reason is public health, water sources, etc. However, I've heard people talk about being burried illegally on their plot of property. I'm all for it, m'self. Not paying the man to die! (We pay the man all the way, and then have to pay him on the way out?!) Problem is, you have to have some friends with some pretty tough stomachs! I will just save them them trouble. I won't need the money where I'm going.
