  • If the ball only hits the defensive player's hand or glove and then comes back over the fence it is not a homerun. However, it the ball hits the players glove/hand and then say a wall or something and THEN bounces back onto the field of play it is a homerun.
  • I believe (but I am NOT certain) that anything that affects a ball once it is technically outside of the playing field - in this case over the wall - no longer is considered as "in play" and would be a home run.
  • A batted ball that leaves the field in flight over fair territory, unless caught by a fielder who has not left live ball territory, is a homerun. In other words, unless it is legally caught, a ball that goes over the fence becomes dead and cannot reenter the field of play as a live ball.
