No, we are unique. Just like everybody else.

I don't see how they could be..unless they band together and agree on a set of rules and abide by them, of course. ! :)
-
depends on what they are not conforming to.
-
Obviously not. Their conscious speaks to them in different ways. Perhaps some feel like killing animals is a sin, so that don't eat meat and wear only leather in shoes. Others might think that society's beauty norms are bullshit and so they shave their pretty little heads and wear 52 earrings in each ear.

I think they fall into two main groups; those who want to be different and those who actually are different.

Yes and no. I think that people who purposely try to be different for any purpose and therefore are not true to themselves are all the same. People who just want to have shock value or show off or rebel against authority, all that kind of stuff. These are fake non-conformists. I would consider such people to fall more under the category of deviance. But people who are different naturally, who don't try to fake it, well they're the real deal. True non-conformists. And these aren't people who want to 'stick it to the man,' these are people who cannot be bothered to conform to the ridiculous norms of society simply in order to fit in, because that's not who they are. I think that there are more fake non-conformists than real non-conformists.
