I was raised by parents who loved my siblings and me. They did their best to teach us how to be good people and did this through both their actions and their words. They did not force their religion down my gagging throat as you so offensively put it. They shared their belief of God with us. However, each of us children have made our own decisions about religion. I have always been faithful. My brother went through an agnostic period before eventually returning and accepting the faith in which we live. My sister is not an active participant in any religion. We still love each other and our parents. However, I will write one more observation here. Your choice of words here reveals your own intolerance. People such as you often accuse those of us that are religious of being intolerant and closed minded. However, you wording of this question shows that you are just as closed minded and bigoted as people such as you often accuse religious people of being.

I don't remember having religion forced down my gagging throat. I had a family who tried to teach me what they thought was true and best for me, and I had concerns with it that eventually (took decades) led me to reject it.

It was terrible. I hated going to church, and as a result I don't go now unless somebody's dead or getting married.

I would get angry that I had to go. Then I would sulk and eventually get in trouble for the sulking. I vowed when I became an adult that I would really delve into all religions to find the one that is right for me. I did. I came around to my own core beliefs, and chose a church that was right for me. I still took a lot of the same values that were forced, in spite of the gagging. I had to stay open-minded and take my time, but after my search, I actually enjoy going now... Funny, it is the same religion, different sect... Essentially, same message, different delivery.
