He could not face telling you that he made a mistake when you asked why he was leaving! (The Jerk!)

Perhaps he intended to come back, maybe goodbye was too painful a word.

It was to painful & he was afraid you may talk him out of it & he felt like he needed to go.

Probably to make it easier on himself. I think saying goodbye to someone directly is difficult..so maybe he has cowardly tendencies and was trying to save himself being involved in a "scene"! :(

I didn't say goodbye once .......about 15 years ago to my girlfriend of only 4 months. She was my first girlfriend and I was her first boyfriend. Why didn't I say goodbye ? She confided in me a rare (genetic) medical condition that she was suffering from and I guess I selfishly didn't want to have to deal with it if/when symptoms arose and I certainly didn't want any future offspring of mine potentially inheriting that syndrome. Certainly I wasn't going to tell her that because that would have shattered her confidence in approaching or being approached by guys for fear of being deserted for the same reason.I felt in my heart of hearts that the lesser of the two evils was to leave without a reason rather than telling her the truth or worse still fabricate a lie. That may be construed as cowardly or the easy-way out but at the time I felt that it was the most gentlemanly thing to do. Different people leave for different reasons but if your love is unrequited , move on . You deserve better! Love happens....you'll see......
