Because as human beings we have a hard time accepting blame.

Speak for yourself. I own all my failures and accomplishments :p

I thought that was why people made up gods was to direct their blame and fault in life and not take any responsibility for their own actions as well as make sense of events or situations they couldn't understand.

We're "ARROGANT IDIOTS"???...Did I win the "Booby Prize"??? Or did U give it to them???

I either blame myself or someone else, not God.

Sinfulness of humans. We can be very arrogant and ungrateful. Human nature is to blame someone else for our misfortunes and hardships. Rather than just accepting it and dealing with it, we need to make someone else responsible.

Great question Stewie and I think the reason is when we do something good we want to tell the World "here look what I did" but yet when we mess up it is easier to blame someone else rather than take responsibility, and for quite a few people God is the one who they want to blame. I learned a long time ago that without God in my life my accomplishments would not be nearly as precious to me. :)

Because we are selfish.

I've actually found it to be the other way 'round. Bad things happen and people say "must have been my fault. I'm a fallen sinner. I deserve it......" Then, when something nice happens, the go all "thank god"-ish...

Some people do that. Some don't. I think people do that when they are unwilling or uncapable of taking responsiblity for their behavior.
