Those words have always made me think of street lights. Like, when you're driving in a car, you pass green lights, stopping at reds(if you choose) time and again. But, maybe I'm just too urban...

Basically there is only two parts on the human body that are crimson. Clover is soft and fun to lay on...nuff said. That is what I think anyway. And he wants to show her the "crimson and clover" over and over. Artists don't like to answer questions like: what is it REALLY about because it is art--art is whatever you think it is to you, answering that question takes away the individual interp which is the purpose of art.

I read somewhere in a liner note that Tommy said, "Crimson and Clover" was a christmas song because of its late in the year release. Kinda hard to believe. For me personally, I think its about a guy having sex for the first time with a girl in the grass.

I always wondered it there is a connection with the fool card of the tarot deck. the fool is depicted in red and green clothes. red represents passion and green represents youth... which kinda works with the young sex theory...

I think it's funny that everyone has a theory and several say they heard the band say it. I dunno. Either way I think it's an awesome song. I think it's probably about sex, and a guy being in love with a girl kinda for the first time maybe. I'm still not 100% on the lyrics. I have seen at least 4 different versions. either way the song still makes me happy and makes me think of someone i'm in love with and makes me think of sex. all good things =)
