  • I was walking through the parking lot at work one day and I saw a some people next to a car that said "Pekin, Illinois" on the license plate frame. I told them my cousin owned a dry cleaning business in Pekin. The lady said, "Oh, really, who's your cousin?' When I told her, she responded, "Well, I work for him." I had a group from Nebraska and South Dakota in our showroom one night. I was asking people what towns in that area they were from. One said, "Butte". I said, "Oh, that's where my brother lives." When they asked who my brother was, and I responded, they said that his wife, my sister-in-law, was their neice. Last week, I had a group in front of my register. I commented on one gentleman's unusual last name, Hazelrigg. I said I know someone by that name in Texas. He said, "In Comanche, by chance?" When I answered in the affirmative, and told him my friend's name, he stated that they were brothers.
  • I met this girl online, and found out one of my friends in person knew her when she was little, so I got them back in touch with each other.
  • Kinda... Met a guy online who turns out was the grandson of my step-grandfather's brother. We're BOTH into genealogy, and we've found NUMEROUS other connections between our family's since then. In fact, since we both don't just get the "bloodline", but all siblings and cousins and marriages and THEIR relatives, our databases should have pretty much the same people in them. Another guy had a great website with good material for the area of Ohio in which my other grandparents grew up. Turns out he's related to my great-grandmother's sister.
  • In Newburgh back in the fifties, all the women in town were employed by pocketbook factories. On a well deserved vacation to Cuba my grandmother purchased an ornate Cuban pocketbook for her best friend. When the friend unwrapped it and took the stuffing out there was a tag that read ''Made in Newburgh, New York''.
  • My wife and I were in our first year at jobs in Texas when my brother-in-law announced his wedding plans. We couldn't take off for the wedding! More than a year later, we went to visit them in Utah and met his wife, D.J., for the "first" time. It turns out D.J. was from Buffalo, NY, and she and I had live in the same apartment complex when we were both kindergartners. She and her little sister were my playmates! The two had met in Utah years later and got married unaware that Debbie and I had been friends so many years before!
  • I went to miniature world at Lego Land. The trees were made from bonsai. It was really small and pretty cool.
  • California is sooo big but a small world, if you know what I mean?
  • I was chatting with a friend on-line (that I have never met in person but known for 3 years) and come to find out he was dating a new girl that was the niece of a guy that dating at the time. Another time, I started dating a guy (in Colorado) that was a brother to someone I had dated in high school (in Iowa). Their last names were not the same, so I didn't make the connection right away.
  • I was talking to my mother the other day and it turns out she has a daughter who is also my sister and to top it all off, my sister's husband's son is also my nephew...strange small world
  • I hired a woman a few years ago for an office admin position, then found out that she was the mother of a girl I went to school with. I also had a coworker who's kid dated my niece.
  • i went to a baseball game. the stands were fairly empty. the guy sitting two seats from me looked familiar. i got the courage to talk to him. he and i were together in bootcamp ten years earlier. the same company. i wonder if he is on facebook?
  • We recently hired a new property manager at work and one and of our regular vendors stopped by the office to fix a leak and he has just recently begun working for the company where our new property manager was employed before coming to work with us. Not really a significant connection but a connection none the less.
  • the pretty cashier i am working with at the cafe is my ex girlfriends sister and she does not know i was the same guy who came to their home to visit her big sister
  • I have two that are somewhat related although they took place 30 years apart. 1. I was living at home and going to school in my twenties, and I look out my front door and I see a car at the end of the block run into a yard and drive up the stairs and crash. I thought that was very strange and knew the people in that car were on drugs. A couple of years go by and I am in the cafeteria at college and I strike up a conversation with this guy who I find out lives in my neighborhood. I tell him, God knows why, the story about the guy years before who drove up those stairs. He replied, "that was me" 2. I am at work and I run into a nice, clean cut young man who used to work at the last place I worked coincidentally. He told me he used to work Graveyard at that job. So, I pipe in with, "Did you ever hear about that guy who died there during the graveyard shift? He overdosed on heroin, did you ever hear about that?" He replied "that was me." He did not die, he was recussitated. Small world.
