Has anyone read the book "Wicked"? I thought it would be fun to read but it was a difficult slog.

The premise sounded wonderful. I had to force myself to finish it. It was utter boring crud.

I read it and liked it pretty well. However, if I had seen the stage show first (I saw the stage production AFTER reading the book) I think I'd have been impatient with the book because I'd have had different expectations.

I absolutely loved it. Elphaba is one of my two favorite literary character because she reminds me so much of myself. I agree however that it was really slow. It was as if there were parts McGuire definately wanted to write, and all the in between was mostly for filling in the gaps. However, I think he captured her spiral into insanity amazingly well.
