  • No. A multimeter on its own will tell you next to nothing about the speaker to which it is connected. The only reliable way to determine power ratings, unless you have a few spare speakers to perform destructive tests on, is to get the manufacturer's name and the part number of the speaker and contact the manufacturer for the specifications. You could once guesstimate the power handling of a speaker by the weight of its magnet assembly and robustness of the components, but with the variety of magnet materials available today (e.g., ceramic, Alnico, rare earth), this is no longer possible.
