Is it okay for a small dog to get pregnant at their 1st heat and before they are a year old

If the father is another small dog, she should be ok. If the father is a big dog like a lab, or retreiver, I'd take her to the vet now.

If the dog's first heat is around 6 months she is still growing, still a puppy so this would not be ideal, if she is 1 year or older it is not so bad. I had always believed that you should wait until the 2nd season to breed a bitch.
