Yes, but it usually takes them hitting rock bottom or some other type of traumatic experience (good or bad). It took a trip to Wales to convince me to take being a type II diabetic seriously... or at least more seriously than I used to. At the very least, it got me to start checking my blood glucose levels.

People can change every day. We get fed so much information that it can change our outlook on life, or a specific subject.

I think people do change, not always in a big way, but yes they can. My opinion is that other people's actions, good or bad, (but hopefully more good) are more likely to be the reason than being forceful with words.
