  • I think it's a tough situation, but it appears as thought the right verdict was reached. The prosecutors had to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the officers had acted illegally, and that's pretty much impossible. The victims had police records, two witnesses gave suspicious or conflicting testimony and a scenario wherein the police officers simply walked up to a car and opened fired simply doesn't make sense. It was probably a very tense and confusing situation. Other officers not charged in the case testified they opened fire after hearing the first officer fire because they believed the gunfire was coming from the suspects. It's hard to second-guess a situation like that. I only hope this doesn't create a racial divide, which it already seems to have done. Two of the charged officers were black. There was nothing racial about this incident.
