  • Never heard of plastic breaking down. In order to avoid possible contamination, i would wash the water bottles with antibacterial soap, at least once a week. its not expensive. its a hassale, but worth it to avoid a bacterial virus. Water bottle companies use their bottles over and over and over. no breakdown there.
  • No need for antibacterial soap. The world's cheapest and best disinfectant is common, ordinary bleach. No form of life known to science can live in the presence of bleach. Pour a little bleach into your bottle, shake it a few times and pour it back--it's still good--then rinse out your bottle. Even if a few drops are left, it won't hurt you, because the breakdown products of bleach are chlorine gas (which evaporates) and table salt.
  • No, but you should regularly wash your bottle with (at least) hot water. Otherwise, potentially dangerous bacteria originating from your own mouth will grow on and inside the bottle.
  • NO....I have been using the same water bottle for 8 years with no heath issues. God willing I hope to use the same water bottle for another 8 years.
  • WHAT IS IN THE DRINK BOTTLE??? IF IT JUST WATER THAN NOT WASHING IT IS NOT GOING TO DO ANY HARM. IF, HOWEVER, YOU OFTEN SWITCH DRINKS (I.E CORDIAL, JUICE) THEN NOT WASHING WOULD RESULT IN A A FUNNY TASTE
