  • I'm not sure where you are located so I'll give a very general answer. If you are in a dry climate, the fabric and gravel idea is O.K. The gravel will give a somewhat stable surface for the building, and keep it from being muddy around the area which will be more pleasant to use. Better yet, (and this would be an absolute must for more moist climates) is to elevate the shed using concrete blocks on top of the gravel. This will promote airflow under the shed and will decrease the chances of mold growth (which accelerates wood rot) on the underside.
