No set length of time but until you feel you've covered the material and you're comfortable with it.

Find some practice exams on the internet and see how well you do. Then study the parts you didn't know. If there aren't any on the internet, ask your instructor.

Study until you're ready for it. If you've kept up with the semester, it shouldn't take too long to review and make sure you understand and remember everything. If you've gotten behind, it'll take longer. Go over your homeworks, go over any problems in the book you haven't done. For first year calc I never studied as much as 10 hours for a test, but I kept up and had the top grade in the class by far. I know people who studied MUCH more than that and didn't do nearly as well. But then, I was a math major in college, and if Calc 1 and Calc 2 weren't easy for me, I'd have been up a creek. Basically, study until you're SURE you're ready for it, and then give it a rest so you're not burnt out.

Study as long as you need to (until you feel you know it). I was good at math too. Took an accelerated course (2 in 1) 5-day a week match course in Freshman college and missed two whole points the whole semester. Next semester was Calc. 1) I didn't understand all the concepts very well... 2) the teacher was foreign with a heavy accent, which made it even MORE difficult. I read the book and still had problems. SOMEHOW, I passed the course, but will remember that class as long as I live. (While I read the book, I didn't try to understand it as well as I should have, probably.)

review past tests and homework. What can you do easily? which ones are iffy and which do you totally dont know? Study the things you're iffy about. Every last point counts, so dont bother studying what you dont know, but instead really get to understand those that you;re not sure of. Cause ive taken the test b4 and they dont ask basic calc problems-- they ask the toughest forms of questions. Also, always write SOMETHING down. Intigral from 0 to 5 dx may be enough to get a point. If in doubt, write an integral, lol

it depends, you know your professor better than we do. calc 1 wasnt terribly difficult for me; If you feel you have a decent grasp on the material then a few hours should be sufficient. The more the better, though. If the professor is really hard, then study more.
