I am currently studying to become a dietitian. I don't know which country you are from but in England you have to be registered with the Health Professionals council before you can legally practice as a dietitian. There are several courses at University throughout the country that carry that registration. Alternatively you can study Nutrition at Uni and do a postgrad in Dietetics. There are limited places to study dietetics because of limited placements provided by the NHS. Most will require good A level grades in Biology and Chemistry and usually will Interview prospective students. You MUST have a clean criminal record and pass an occupational health check. Good Luck - its worth it!

The best thing is to check the web site of the dietitians' association of whichever country you wish to study. In Britain, the British Dietetic Association is a comprehensive section on their web site on how to train: www.bda.uk.com Also, be aware that while the training of dietitians is usually done at universities and based on science, the quality of the training of nutritionists can be less clear. Aspects of nutrition, usually described as nutritional therapy or holistic nutrition, include new age treatments of unproven value and in many cases are designed with commercial opportunities in mind, such as selling pills and supplements. Choose nutrition courses approved by the Nutrition Society.
