The Birds and The Bees Was sung by Jewel Akensit came out in, I think 1965 (O:

Let me tell ya 'bout the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
    And the moon up above
    And a thing called "Love"
Let me tell ya 'bout the stars in the sky
And a girl and a guy
And the way they could kiss
    On a night like this
When I look into your big brown eyes
It's so very plain to see
That it's time you learned about the facts of life
    Starting from A to Z
Let me tell ya 'bout the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
    And the moon up above
And a thing called "Love" (Yeah!)
    instrumental interlude
When I look into your big brown eyes
It's so very plain to see
That it's time you learned about the facts of life
    Starting from A to Z
Let me tell ya 'bout the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
    And the moon up above
    And a thing called "Love"
Let me tell ya 'bout the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
And the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
    'bout the birds
    FADE
    and the bees

Was it Bobby Goldsboro with the song "Hello Summertime" - it was the Coca Cola song in 1974 or thereabouts (not sure if it was Bobby Goldsboro but it sounded like him)

1963 or 1964 there was a UK guy that made it to the top 10 Billboard with "The Birds and The Bees"
Before that, in the 1950s, there was the Temptations.
Before that- 500,000 seller by Dean Martin.

    Do you really understand

    Opportunity's at hand?

All the birds and bees, flowers and trees,

Seem to know what life demands!

    Are you willing?

    Are you wise?

    Have you tried to analyze

What you do and say everyday?

Words and action lead the way!

    Have you learned?

    Did you listen?

    Have you dreamed

    Your wildest dream?

Honesty, integrity will lead you to the stars!

Are you scared? Are you afraid?

    Is a good foundation laid?

Did you plant the seed? Pull the weed!

If you do, you will succeed!

You can do it, if you try!

Never let the chance go by!

Do your very best! Pass the test!

Always hold your head up high!

    Now I hope you'll understand

That in life you need a plan.

    Work it, step by step!

    What the heck!

Each and every one of us must LEARN!

or is it an l.l. cool j song you are looking for

This was written by Herb Newman and performed by Johnny Kidd & the Pirates, 1965:

Let me tell you 'bout the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
    The moon up above
    And a thing called love

Let me tell you 'bout the stars in the sky
And this girl and the guy
    The way that they kiss
    On a night like this

When I look into your big brown eyes
It's so very plain to see
Well, it's time that you leaned about the facts of life
    Starting from A to Z
Let me tell you 'bout the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
    The moon up above
    And a thing called love

When I look into those big brown eyes
It's so very plain to see
Well, it's time that you leaned about the facts of life
    Starting from A to Z

Let me tell you 'bout the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
    The moon up above
    And a thing called love

Let me tell you 'bout the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
    The birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
About the birds and the bees
and the flowers and the trees
    The birds an the bees
And the flowers and the trees
    (continue till fade)
