"Handling" is when I have to spend $3.50 a gallon for gasoline to go to the store and buy packing supplies, wrap up the package, then spend $3.50 a gallon for gasoline to drive down to the post office and pay the required postage to mail the package.

Handling is boxing up the item, the peanuts, the box, the labor costs in doing this and delivering them to the post 0ffice. It's the weighing and moving and finding if it's a large warehouse.
