This toothbrush was made of hairs from the neck of a Siberian wild boar which were fixed to a bamboo or bone handle.
  • A student from the Middle East told me that the Arabs were using toothbrushes long before that. They weren't the conventional thing with bristles and a handle; they were, instead, a twig with a whole lot of longitudinal cuts in one end of it. One was shown in "Shakespeare in Love" being used by the Gwyneth Paltrow character.
