I would think, it is a way to comfort their selves, during their grieving. I dont pay much mind to what people say, when the have lost a loved one, strange things happen to your mind.

Virginity in Heaven does not count for anything special... I think they are just glad that their caughter was not sexually abused in any way. ~+~

I think it's knowing your child was not sexually abused, rather than the virginity, that is the comfort to the people.

If a female (regardless of age) had been indiscriminantly promiscuous is one thing, but if a non-virgin, morally conservative, unmarried woman of strong faith was killed under bizarre circumstances, I would certainly suspect that she would not be banned from heaven. To think otherwise would be a midieval, dark ages mindset. That kind of thinking is dangerous. Remember when women were accused of being witches and burned at the stake? That was a result of similar attitudes. (God forgives sins, remember.) Trying to pre-judge someones eternal fate is not the responsibility of mortal men. Leave it alone.

I don't know anyone who would ever say that. I also don't know anyone whose daughter died under bizarre circumstances. I don't think God gives a person points or credit for being a virgin or minus points for being a prostitute. He forgives our sins whatever they are.
