It depends on how they do so. If they are like "mmm! This is delicious! Whats in it?" Than no.. its not rude. If they are eyeling is suspiciously and wont eat it until they know whats in it.. yes.. that is kind of rude, BUT they might have allergies to something. Its a guess. Ignore them and keep on with your good cooking! ~+~

How did they do it? Reason I ask is because a vegetarian friend of mine has to ask about that sort of things. I know some people with peanut allergies have to ask because even foods processed near peanuts can set off an allergy attack.

I dont think it is rude, some people have allergies, or they really are curious about food, like I am.

For health reasons, no. For ethics or whatever, yes. Like "How can you serve chicken that's not free range? Would you like to be caged?" is something they should swallow. If "My cholestorol is high, what kind of oil did you use to prepare this delicious chicken?" would be acceptable.

If they are so fussy about what they put in their mouths, they should bring their own "special" food with them. Unless they are a strict vegan or have a hideous food allergy that could kill them, they should just shut up and eat.

They may have eaten at Hannibal Lector's recently. If they ask what's in the food, like Roselynn said, ask if they have allergies or a special diet...but not offensively. It is rude to 'question' the food...but keep in mind, it's also rude not to ask if they have allergies or a diet before inviting them for dinner.

Kind of depends on why they are doing it. They could have allergies and be very concerned what's in things or where it comes from. I have several relatives and friends with allergies and I always ask them beforehand if they have special needs so that every thing will be okay and I will be able to tell them ahead of time what is okay for them to eat, or if I can change something so it's okay for them.
