Lay a plastic sheet or garbage bag on top of your bed. Spray this everyday with ammonia (animals hate the smell) and you're dog will soon learn not to get on the bed. Good luck hon, and thanks for trying alternatives to crating. Also check out: petpeoplesplace.com for great answers on pet problems.

Is it possible that the dog is trying to tell you he is upset about something. I know when my friend's dog is upset with her he always pees on her favorite chair.

Put mouse traps under newspapers. When your dog jumps on the bed the traps springing will scare it and it won't want to jump on the bed anymore.

Thanks for your response. I've only had him 1 month. I got him from a rescue org. and he's getting 2 walks each day as well as one before I go to work and 1 when I come home. Can you believe it! Any advice?

You can but this stuff in a can i think it is called stay off or something it is suppost to be safe on beds and things like that i don't know if it really works i use a rolled up newspaper or keep the door closed if i am not home.

Are you insane? I hope you don't own any pets!

Thanks for your response. I've been keeping the bedroom door locked and he's finally going on the wee-wee pads. Life's looking better. I appreciate all of the comments except the suggestion of mouse traps. I wouldn't ever hurt my little guy!

I would try to have a program of exercise, training, and confinement. That does not necessarily mean crating, but restricting. I do that with any new dog or foster dog that I have. You can use baby gates etc to keep the dog confined to a certain area of the house, and after 1-2 wks of no "accidents", enlarge the available area. I would also try to focus on training to bond with the dog and set down boundaries. Quick things to do incl having the dog "sit" before getting something he wants, such as dinner or the door to open to go outside. if it seems that he can't "hold it" overnight or on days when you are home, i'd have him checked by the vet for any problems.

I have two small puppies. When I brought the first one home I took her out every hour or so to pee the first few nights. I had to remove all the carpets in my house and keep only washable throw rugs. For some reason they like to pee on rugs. I also keep wee wee pads around the house. One of my dogs will use it. I take them outside (I have a fenced yard) and when they potty I give them a traet and make a big deal about them going potty outside. My dogs sleep in my bed so they would not pee on it.
