Does anyone else besides me think our country was specifically attacked on 9/11, our nation's reference to an emergency?

I always thought it was an eerie thing, too. I guess the UK should be on high alert on the 9th of September, 2009, since their emergency phone code is 999.

Actually I think it was a coincidence. After all the hijackers had several contingency plans for other dates if things didn't go as planned on September 11. Not every culture has the propensity for abbreviating everything like we do here in the U.S. The term 9/11 is largely a media creation. Most organized terrorists, Al Qaeda in particular, tend not to plan events on anniversaries or other significant dates so I find it difficult to believe that they would single out 9/11 for its similarity to 911. I think that we have to chalk it up to one of those eerie coincidences that often are found after horrible events such as this.

I don't think it was a coincidence. They had to pre-meditate the whole thing. The WHOLE thing for it to actually happen. So, then why not on a day that most Americans would easily remember? I think it just goes to show the degree of intelligence the enemy is capable of, or rather lucid creativity the enemy is capable of.

Yea, I also think it's sheer irony. There are far too many conspiracies about 9/11 going around. Those people who do should think about the families affected by this tragedy not focus on "whodidit"... it happened, that's life, it's not always nice and fun. For example: Iraq. UK

Personally, the idea is rather far-fetched. For terrorists, any day/every day is a good day to murder, maim, and dismember innocent victims.

Actually, I think the idea that the hijackers chose September 11 because it was the anniversary of the day the US decided that Chile wouldn't be allowed its democracy... http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A716591 ...is more plausible.
