true but not always!!! it's mostly true, but i have actually picked out names for three major medications with my brother. my dad was the leading scientist in developing the drugs and he suggested the names for us and since he's been published, etc.. had a lot of clout & theres an allergy med, a heartburn med and a cholesterol med!!! so sometimes lay people do make them, but yes, otherwise, for the most part the other answers are correct.
