If 50,000,000 Americans can vote for their favorite "Idol" every week, why do so few turn out to vote for their state and country's leaders? Do we need to have "Online Voting" or "Text Message Voting" to get people to give a crap?

It shows priorities. And maybe, yes, they do need online voting and text message voting to get people motivated. Some people are just too lazy to walk to the voting stations.

I don't want people to vote just for the sake of voting. I want people who have studied the issues to vote. I don't want their informed votes to be diluted by people who vote for whoever has the nicest smile, or promises the most goodies, or whatever.

It would be a practical solution to get votes from some of the electorate.
