  • I'd suggest that you start by feeling what you feel naturally. There are no "shoulds" about keeping things at arm's-length. You didn't specify what the emotion is but there are, of course, times you have to be cautious. For example, it's great to feel euphoric if you fall in love but it's also understandable that you might be a bit protective of yourself and want to pace yourself carefully. Similarly, if a person feels depressed, it's important to acknowledge that and accept it as a legitimate feeling. The flip side of that is that it's good to do what you can to help yourself. But in either case, I think you have to start by being honest with yourself about how you feel. What comes after that is something worth considering, however.
  • I'm not a runaway kind of person, I would fall and fall hard. Best to deal with it and move on.
