  • I would assume so. Opinion questions are the best kind! Seriously, what's the point of posting something for EVERYONE to answer if there's only one answer?
  • I find them perfectly acceptable, but that is just my opinion. :) The only problem I have is when somebody calls an opinion based answer "not useful". If you ask for an opinion, you should accept an answer as an opinion regardless of whether or not you agree.
  • Yes lots of the questions asked on Answerbag require an "opinion" this for me has been a minor issue because there is really no wrong answer in an opinion but if someones opinion differs from yours they can give you a bad rating, which is not fair. Bottom line is Yes opinion answers are allowed on Answer bag and answer them at your own risk!
  • ---well, in my opinion---------------
  • I don't know. In a way they always were, seeing as people were allowed to ask "My boyfriend loooks at porn, is this cheating?" (for example) and the answer to this, however you look at it, relies on the respondents personal opinion. These days it seems that the mods are allowing opinion questions along the lines of "What's your favorite film?"- which seem pretty harmless, and I quite like reading what other people's favorite stuff is. It also seems that "why do people do such-and-such?" and "how can anyone think that...?" seem to be allowed now. At first this was all OK- I tended to rely on the good nature of the person asking, assuming they were just curious, and tried to give an explanation. e.g. "Why do some people not believe in an afterlife?" I give an answer, which I think is what the person wants explaining why I, personally, don't believe in an afterlife. Then the big problem happens- it turns out the person asking wasn't curious at all, they were spoiling for a fight, and I get a bad rating (which doesn't bother me unduly) and an insulting comment telling me I'm an idiot for believing whatever I believe (which does get my back up a little bit- its never nice to be insulted when you were just trying to help) SO I'm starting to doubt the wisdom of so-called "opinion" questions- tending to think there should be a special category called "Personal Insults, Political Polemic, Religious In-fighting and Shoulder Chips." to keep them out of the more friendly, factual and- dare I say it- useful part of AB. That was a bit of an irrelevant rant to be honest! The answer to your question is, "Yes, it would appear that they are."
