That's a loaded question and people will probably be polarized on it. Religion brings passion and emotion. I will say that for all the good it does over time it has done as much bad if not more. For every Mother Theresa there are a thousand suicide bombers. Think about the Inquisition!!!!! The Crusades. The way Palestinians are poorly treated in Israel. The way Jews have been treated all over the world forever because of their religion because they are of a different religion and culture. Priests sexually abusing children and the Church covering for them. On the other hand so many people who are religious do so many good things for the poor all over the world. So were is the balance, which side does it tip toward? I don't know.

Fallen Imperfect man reached out to Satans' False offering in an attempt to reach out to God & find Favor again which was the Foundation for "Religion". However man could not nor ever will through his "Religion" ever be "Reconciled" to God. Therefore from it's beginning "Religion" was/is Evil!!! John

I would have to say both. I believe that religion, when practiced honestly and humbly by its followers, will most always be a force for good. However, pride and selfishness tend to pollute our minds and we can slip into using the power of religion for evil purposes.

I would think evil. It just generally makes people think that everybody who doesn't share their religion is wrong or is living the wrong way and in some case should be punished or whatever. Obviously there has been lots of wars and stuff like that because of different religions and there's racism and prejudges because it really bothers a lot of people that not everyone thinks the same way they do. Also some people have used it just to manipulate other people in the society. I know it has done good things for some people, people that need something to believe in and I don't see a problem with that, but it's just so much bigger than that. It's supposed to be only personal but it really isn't. People let it affects so much in e.g. politics... I just think the harm has been so much more throughout everything...

Religion tends to keep a balance in the world. Whether we think certain religions are wrong or right, try to picture a world without religion. Religion stirs a question within us.

It depends on what you mean by the word. I would sight jesus as an example of what religion is, and His follower james summed it up in (Jas 1:27 [NKJV]) Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. Sounds pretty beneficial. However if you look at the religiosity going on everywhere. Where people fake to show how perfect they are. Or Even worse, Somebody misleads desperate people in order to get them to do what that leader wants accomplished. Such as the crusades, Islam, the suicide rates of women in the LDS church, the religous wars in india. So in conclusion, depends on the definition. Religion here, good. Religiosity, bad.

Good, by far. One example is the Catholic Church. A few things where the Catholic Church has made the world a better and brighter place are: + Relief from the Barbarian invasions of the early middle ages + Rescued Christian and pre-christian literature + Spread agricultural and animal husbandry knowledge + Started and protected universities + Sponsored and supported science and medicine + Created International Law theory + Developed and sponsored modern economic theory + Invented charity as we know it + Codified, expanded, and improved Western Law + Western Morality + Created just war theory I suggest you read the book "How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization" by Thomas E. Woods, Jr. http://www.catholiceducation.org/articles/history/world/wh0101.html With love in Christ.
