Any amp will work, but acoustic guitar amps usually have a high frequency speaker (what we used to call a "tweeter") in them to bring out the bright overtones that give an acoustic guitar it's distinctive sound. PA systems also have HD drivers, so I like to play my acoustic guitar through a PA system. A regular guitar amp will not be as good at reproducig these "shimmering" overtones. Also, some acoustic guitar amps have anti-feedback controls, which is nice for acoustic guitars because they tend to feed back when played loud. Also, most acoustic guitar amps have a microphone input so you can plug in a microphone and sing along. The guitar and the microphone wil have separate volume and tone controls so you can get just the right blend.
