I have been traveling on Southwest Airlines, but I haven't signed up for the miles. Do I lose the credit if I were to sign up now, or can I still get those miles back?

Southwests Rapid Rewards program doesn't use "miles" to earn rewards, they use flights taken or "credits".

Eight roundtrips or 16 one ways in 24 months earn you a roundtrip valid to any of the 60+ destinations they serve. You can also earn credits using their hotel & rent-a-car travel partners or Visa card.

Whether or not SWA will apply your past flight(s) to a new Rapid Rewards membership may depend on how long ago you flew. I have seen agents enroll a passenger and back credit a recent flight they took. Call the SWA Rapid Rewards desk at 1-800-248-4377 with your flight specifics and ask.

Most reward programs will only start from the date you join, so no mileage credit will be given for any travel taken prior to your join date.
