An 30 foot high electrified fence the whole length, buried and extending electrified 20 feet so it would be hard to dig under.

I do think that the border shouldnt just let anyone pass through into the US. BUT. I do think that it should be a bit easier for a mexican to become a legal person to cross the border. If you look at all the loopholes they have to go through in oder to be a legal immigrant, it wouldnt be such a huge shocker that we have so many illegal ones. ~+~

I would design something monumental and multi-functional, something similar to the Great Wall of China which was more of a symbol of China's greatness and power. It's construction would create jobs for U.S. citizens and serve as a barrier. By monumental, I mean very large in scale and strong.

It would be a waste of money and time. People will always find a way around a blockade. Think of the Berlin wall and how ineffectual it really was.

Similar to the 38th parallel. No one crosses that.
-
Just like the Berlin wall...they will always find a way to get through.

It's a really interesting topic, mostly because of the reasons why people want one. You have one group that says it'll protect the country from terrorists - which is just utterly absurd because there hasn't been a terrorist that came through the Mexico (or even Canada) and US border. They get in through falsified documents, or even legit documents. Then you have this other group who says "it'll secure the borders AND it'll create tons of jobs." Really? You going to try to swing that one? The same people who HATE the FDR presidency for creating public works programs and are, for the most part, Republicans are trying to push this aspect. Here's the kicker: at the same time they're against other public works programs that create jobs. Oh the irony, it's great. And now you have a third faction, the one who are for the wall to keep out the Mexicans because they are stealing jobs. I honestly don't know how to respond to that because it's so utterly ridiculous. I'm sorry you lost your unskilled, low-paying job. Do you hate Indians and Brazilians as well? Because the affect of outsourcing is much more significant. Finally, the fourth group - the ones who at least doesn't pull any punches. They just don't like Mexicans for whatever reason. Of all the groups, I'm actually cool with this one. Sure I don't agree with them, but at least they're not fake and phony about it, trying to masquerade as something they're not. Shitstorm in 5, 4, 3...
